A field survey conducted by a research team headed by Associate Professor NARAMA Chiyuki scientifically confirmed that the Karamatsuzawa snow-patch on Mount Karamatsu (2,696 meters) in Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture in the Northern Japanese Alps is a glacier. A paper was published in the Journal of the Japanese Society of Snow and Ice.
